SERIES — Signal & Response: The Skin Inputs You Can't See

A two-part educational series exploring the often-overlooked factors that shape skin before a product ever touches it, and how understanding these influences helps therapists achieve better outcomes regardless of the skincare range they use.

CLASS 1 — The 24-Hour Skin Journey: Choose Your Path Wisely

Every skin has already experienced a night and at least part, if not all, of a day before it reaches the treatment room. Light, heat, humidity, posture, stress, screen exposure, and seasonal changes all influence barrier function before a single product is selected.

This class follows the skin's journey from alarm clock to pillow and demonstrates how each input either strengthens the barrier or gradually wears it down. Therapists will learn to identify when a skin isn't ready for active ingredients and understand what needs reinforcing first.

Why therapists need this:
The client who "reacted to the product" often reacted to their week. Understanding the story behind the skin allows therapists to know when to repair and when to progress treatment.

CLASS 2 — The Chemistry Underneath: Build Great Foundations

The skin barrier can only be built from the raw materials the body has available. Medications such as the contraceptive pill, ADHD medications, antidepressants, and even folate-fortified foods can influence these building blocks and, in turn, the skin itself.

This session explores what nutrients and pathways may become depleted or blunted, where hydration and methylation can fall short, and how therapists can estimate the potential impact while communicating safely and professionally with clients.

Why therapists need this:
Many clients are taking medications with skin-relevant side effects that have never been connected for them. This class provides therapists with the understanding and clinical judgement to discuss these mechanisms appropriately, without diagnosing conditions or interfering with prescribed treatments.
